Piotr rodowicz

Jazz bassist, also a composer, arranger and educator. He graduated from the Academy of Catholic Theology in Warsaw in philosophy, 1981. In the years 1981-1983 he studied at the Jazz Mobile School in New York. In 1990 he graduated the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

He also graduate from Academy of Music in Katowice, Poland, performance major in 2005.

In 2015 he accomplished the doctorate in music at the Academy of Music in Wroclaw. In 1984 along with Wlodek Pawlik created In Tradition Quartet, which won the Grand Prix at the jazz competition in Dunkerque (France).

During his studies in the United States he played with artists such as Bob Moses, Walter Davis, Joshua Redman, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Bob Winiker Big Band and the Brookline Symphony Orchestra.

After returning home, he toured and recorded, among others, with Grazyna Auguscik, Kazimierz Jonkisz, Edyta Geppert, Ela Wojnowska, Adam Kawonczyk, Slaw Kulpowicz, Janusz Muniak, Maciej Strzelczyk, Tomasz Szukalski, Tomasz Filipczak, Artur Dutkiewicz, Bogdan Hołownia.

Toured with various bands in France, Hungary, Germany, Czech Republic, Sweden, Russia, Ukraine and Kuwait.

He is also co-founder of the Jazz Department at the Frederic Chopin State Music College in Warsaw, and Faculty member since 1992, also a consultant and expert of the Ministry of Culture on the teaching of jazz.

Since 2002 has produced the music for the 3 series of documentary movies “Solidarity – Thank You” – for the television channel TVP Polonia.

Since 1995 he is leading his own bands and producing the recordings over 20 cd’s.
